Crash report

Post by RTC »

WinXP Pro SP2

XP2 prof 1.7.0.4

Problem

Performing file search
scrap container #1 opens with results

Sticky select some duplicate files

Right click on selected items

XP2 crashes

Anyone can confirm this behavior?

If indeed so, could tech support, customer support, XP2 wizards or CEO himself addresses this problem?

Thanx for your help....

another user is reporting lots of x2 crashes with v 1704 too; but no details on what seems to cause it.
So far I have not seen crashes with 1704 myself; nor can I reproduce them following your description of what you were doing.

{no doubt there will be a resolution when the issue can be reproduced more cetainly}

fgagnon,

unfortunately the crash is a reproducible event on my side…I also tried it on a plain vanilla configuration, running WinXP only with the basics…still the crash.
OTOH when on the Missus laptop I can’t reproduce this crash….

Seems like the other members haven’t experienced this behavior….hope the CEO will have a look at this issue (the Wimbledon finale is over by now…. )

Any other suggestion or tricks I might do on my side?

Thanx for your response

Huh??
I'm sorry Nikos, I'm just an amateur (well, maybe premier league...); I haven't got a clue if I have Tortoise SVN or an old version...
I guess I should get it / install it?

PS
At least I can't find it on my system...

there's no need to install TSVN if you don't have it already!

i think that your crash doesn't have to do anything with sticky selection, but only with multiple selection. If you right click on a single file it wouldn't crash, right?

i need 2 snapshots (pics): one of your shell context menu on a single item (press <print screen> key) and one of the crash error message you are getting

Yes, I have this issue on my pc too. I was reminded of it by your blog, and wanted to write about, but then I discovered that I couldn't reproduce it on the other PC, and I wanted to investigate it some more.

The crash happens when I have selected two or more items in the scrap from different folders.

I get the usual 'send-Microsoft-a-report'-crash-thing:

And this is what I have in a contextmenu for a txt file:

This machine is running XP sp1, no TSVN

we have something suspect here then. Do you have tortoise SVN?
I can't tell much of the dutch names, so you have to compare this crashing menu with the one you get on your PCs that don't crash -- check for extra/differing items, the culprit will be there

also can I have the Dr watson crash log? See this page (bottom) for instructions:
www.zabkat.com/x2cs_bug.htm

thanks

I don't have tortoise SVN. The names in the context menu are the dutch equivalents of:

Open
Print
Edit
---
Convert to Macromedia Flash (.swf)
Convert to PDF etc.
Convert to PDF etc.
---
Copy Path [of Ninotech]
Open With
Encrypt
---
Scan with Norton Antivirus
TextPad
ZipGenius
---
Unlocker
---
Copy to
---
Cut
Copy
---
Create shortcut
Delete
Rename
---
Properties

Comparing with the other pc is a bit tricky, the other one is Win98, this one's XP. Setup is completely different. Nevertheless, the context items not on the other machine are:
  • Edit
    the Flash/pdf convertors,
    Open with
    Encrypt
    Unlocker

I'll see if I can get the DrWatson log

Nikos,

Your darn right: sticky select has nothing to do with this problem; when selecting only one item, no crash at all but when selecting multiple items, it will crash every time.....

I'll send the DrW log file to your email address;

Mr.Pleasant, thanx for the two snapshots....

of all the lame programming monkeys in the world, it's norton antivirus to blame! They must have copied/pasted the code used by TSVN  :x

now try telling them that they should change their code to fix bugs!
