I wanted to experiment with some of the setting in xplorer2 pro. So I decided to try the "Export Settings" so I could restore my settings when I was done. Following the example, I set C:\x2settings.REG, but nothing ever was created. Am I misinterpreting this command?
If you are in a limited user's account, you are not allowed to create new files in the root of a drive (has nothing to do with x2). Go into an appropriate folder (e.g. My Files or Desktop).

Even when you are in an administrator account, w7 limits what you can do on a case-by-case basis/need to explicitly approve certain actions.
For unknown reason, x2 (or the system routine it called) failed to present you with a dialogbox to OK writing the .reg file to the root of the drive.
