Win7 "GodMode" Would be a Nice to Add to Special F

Post by DavidSalahi »

Windows 7 "GodMode" would be a nice addition to Go To --> Special Folders.

I think this addition is unnecessary since this mode isn't a standard mode on the user system.

At the end of the day, it's just a different layout for the Control Panel (albeit a slightly more expansive one) made up of links to the CP itself.

If one likes it that much, a Bookmark will do.

yes, just create a folder on your desktop and call it
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
and you'll get this functionality in xplorer2 too

Nikos, can we have list of special folders configurable in registry? Since Win7 there are few more folders that I would like to see in this group. We would not bother you again for the new special folders that we would like in Win8 :-)

Other "variations" on the above may be found here but none work in x2 on Win7 x64 (Godmode does, however) - they will work in WE though.

They're still just shortcut links to the control panel.

I think snakebyte's thinking of a user-configurable list of such things - whatever the user considers "special".  Or, de facto, "Add Special Bookmark".  Or, I could be wrong.  :?

I meant the contents of "Go to > Special folders" menu should be user configurable. I would like to have %appdata% and few other Win7/Vista specific folders in that list.

... more than just the ill-named "god mode", here are a couple links to  write-ups by Ed Bott on ZDNet about other "secret" w7 GUID's and shell commands.
Some of the shell commands provide insight as well as access to several of windows' virtual folder groupings.  I recommend that our win7 adopters should check it out.  :thumbup:
