Strange Recycle Bin display

Post by Gandolf »

Don't ask me how I managed to produce this!!!

I'd deleted a number of files from the recycle bin, sorting by different criteria (date deleted, name, original location) and went to sort by size. This was what was displayed.
A refresh sorted it all out and there were no problems, but I couldn't believe the display.

The preview pane is open on the left, and a single pane.

The only thought I have is that I had sorted earlier by name and then, because I wanted to sort by location, changed the sort quickly to location, possibly before the list had been sorted.

Needless to say, I can't reproduce it again.

I thought you'd like it!

It is reproducible, and is related to changing the sort column while the sort is in progress.

With a largish number of items in the bin (838), sort by name. Before the sort is complete click on another column header (location or date). It's fairly random how it corrupts the sort as far as I can tell, sometimes it's O.K.

Does streaming psychedelic mood music while sorting enhance the randomness?

I haven't tried that.

However, I do have a black cat - perhaps she's practicing witchcraft!!

Or maybe the last 'o' changed to an 'a'.

I think you hear that pun more often?
