TortoiseSVN "Delete" operation works differently t

Post by mmelo »

I'm using TortoiseSVN and when I select TortoiseSVN > Delete from the context menu from inside x2, the folder marked for SVN deletion simply gets deleted to the recycle bin (and when you try to do a SVN operation afterwards it appears as "missing") rather than SVN internally marking the folder to be commited as a "delete from repository" and only then deleting it from the local machine.

This is not a HUGE problem in itself as I can always switch to Windows Explorer when I want to do the SVN delete, but it may hint at a more general misbehaviour in x2 that may affect other, more common, Explorer operations.

Could you take a quick look at it, Nikos? Cheers!

i'll have a look but i doubt i can do anything about it as this context menu command is implemented by TSVN...

Are you sure it behaves differently in x2 vs. Explorer? I noticed the behavior change, but I blame TSVN for that. As far as I remember, it's broken for me everywhere. Gotta check again, though...
I'm using Xplorer2 - the only file manager that does not suck. Actually, it rocks!

OOOPS! It's x2's fault! Explorer hands over Delete command to TSVN just fine.

1.8.0.0 [Unicode] x64 @ Win7 x64 Pro.

it can't be x2's fault! tsvn is handling this command
obviously tsvn is somehow expecting to find something that only explorer delivers. Did you try any other 3rd party file managers?

Just tried with Ultra Explorer and Unreal Commander and they both worked fine (i.e. files don't actually get deleted from folder, they get marked for delete on commit). Re-tried with x2 under XP (last time was on W7 and it could be different) and it did not work, it just deleted stuff to Recycle Bin making them "missing" on commit.

What's interesting is that I'm using x2 and older version of TSVN at work with XP - no problems with Delete whatsoever.

I have the same behaviour as well.

It's almost as though xplorer2, while trying to override the default delete operation with its new fancy robust delete, is also accidentally overriding the TSVN delete operation. This used to work before the robust delete function got implemented.

It's no fun switching to explorer to do this operation... any workarounds/fixes?

Thanks,
Shimona

Have you updated to latest released versions of x2 [1.8.0.6] and TSVN [1.6.7]?

Sadly disabling robust delete doesn't work. It forwards the delete operation to explorer instead of TSVN.

But you did not answer the question:
  • Have you updated to latest released versions
    of x2 [1.8.0.6] and of TSVN [1.6.7]?

It seems to be working correctly with X2 1.8.0.7 and TSVN 1.6.7.

It works with TSVN 0.67 and xplorer2 1.8.0.11 as well. Thanks!
