bookmarks myteriously adding more and more of themselves

Post by albabes »

Hi Nikos

Ive got a strange thing happening for a week now with Bookmarks. They keep adding and adding themselves. All the ones added are PREVIOUS ones I already have. I have about 15-20 normally, and today there is over 100. Most days are triple that amount. I delete them, and they come back.

It started  when I updated to 18012, a week ago.

Plus the "Crash Dump" deal does not work anymore. Error dialog box says, "the Cpu cannot make any sense of the last output. Then says, "There is no crash dump file for this version.

It is also some times, NOT opening when started.

Thanks
Al

I was one of the ones that kept losing bookmarks.  I fixed it by turning off the "use as default filemanager" option.   Maybe you can use the same workaround?

the culprit is usually some registry cleaner tool, there are a few of them around.

or are you saying that bookmarks grow like rabbits while xplorer2 is running?

Might be a silly question, but you've not somehow got a keyboard shortcut assigned to "Add current" without realizing it? Check Customize | Keyboard | Bookmarks.

do you have bookmarks added in random folders or redefined on the same folders?

I have almost the same problem as albabes since installing v1.8.0.12 and it's driving me nuts because I really rely on my bookmarks.

I say "almost the same" because while some are multiplying, others just won't display. In Organize view I can see the missing bookmarks but no matter how I reorganize them they will not appear.

And it gets worse. X2 has completely reordered my bookmarks without any input on my part. Changing the order in Organize view makes no difference. I tried restoring my backed up registry settings and that made no change either.

I changed the advanced option to allow for 40 bookmarks to be viewed. Didn't work though. It displays 30 maximum, even after rebooting. And on a daily basis I keep losing bookmarks because they are being shifted down the list by duplicates created by X2 itself.

I'm going to try reinstalling v1.8.0.11 until there's an answer to this.

Incidentally, I'm on Vista 32 bit if that makes any difference.

No  I dont, assuming you mean the "current keys" area. Never been in there actually, like a  lot of areas of xplorer ive never seen.
