Have I missed something or the most obvious thing to do with a mass rename function is to be able to replace a portion of the name (or remove it). For example, you've downloaded a MP3 album (legally!) and the filenames are along the lines of:
01_chris_de_burgh-the_lady_in_red.mp3
and I want to make it
01-the_lady_in_red.mp3
then all I would need to do is replace _chris_de_burgh_ with nothing. Is there functionality to do this already or is there any plan to include it?
Obviously, I don't listen to Christ de Burgh - I merely mention him for the purpose of this example. :D
Simple search/replace in mass rename?

xplorer2 isn't very good in partial renaming but you can use your imagination

I'm certain at some time Nikos will also come up with some regular expression support.
But since there are very good free solutions integrating with xplorer2 doing just what you want, it's no priority.
Just search this forum for one of the many renaming topics and try out mrename or my favourite awxrename for renaming more complicated with the context menu.
