i made it work from xplorer2 but it opened an explorer window

FWIW

I'd like something that will pack & unpack multi-part RARS, I don't think 7zip can pack them. I think it creates those .001, 002 files which for my purist heart is a bit of a kludge.

The advantage of RAR archives is the error recovery, not sure 7z archives have that across multipart .001, 002 archives.
