I could've discovered xplorer2 earlier if it weren't for me skipping Windows Vista.

Make a wi$h (:D) and blow the candles! Image

Congratulations with the 7 year (I started in 2004 in the forum....) and the new beta.

Just started to report that Kenny was not showing the complete menu (7-zip menu was missing in the RMB menu) but there was this new beta, and this version shows this option, so no need to report it. Have a nice weekend (do you have Whit sunday?)

Problem with the beta on Windows 7 64 bits. Every time I close the program I get this message that xplorer2 has stopped working. C000005 exception code, that is a nasty one as far as I know.

Let me know if you want more info.

Just tested the behaviour problem of the off screen "How do I?" window when switching from 2 to 1 monitor. That one lookes good. The missing window is nicely positioned in visible desktop.
That means that the closing problem, that I reported in my previous message, happens after the close routine that saves settings.

Cannot replicate your difficulties on closing the beta (Win7 x64) - it works fine.  Saving settings or not... including moving any given windows,  (I did not, however, try disconnecting any monitors.)

I was afraid of this. C000005 is a rather bit tricky. If I start the Visual 2008 debugger on xplorer2, the fist message I get is : Unhandled exception at 0x00492250 in xplorer2_64.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x0000000000000000.

But I have never used the debugger before, so I could that this means nothing.

Tried to use the DebugView (sysinternals), but it looks like that this beta is not using the debugviewer compiliation that was used before.

Sorry for the confusion, but the closing problem has nothing to do with windows and monitors. The windows and pane problems was something from the .12 alpha version and that one is nicely solved.

Just starting and stopping is enough to create the error.

Maybe it is better to forget for now my report on the closing problem. While I was closing down my laptop for today, I decided to close down all applications and then start and stop xplorer2. No errors found now. :D

So there is a strange interaction with another application, but because I'm going home now (for a long weekend, because of Whit Sunday and monday) I take a look at this on Tuesday again to find which one could be the culprit. If I find the evil program that is doing bad things with xplorer2, I let you know.

Have a nice weekend all. 8)

:P  It looks like I'm talking in myself. 6 messages from me on a row...

in case you or anybody else gets any crashes in the future, use Help > Crash information menu and send me the file for further investigation -- crash scene investigation so to speak :)

As they used to say at NASA, "All systems go." Beta seems to be working like the released version, only better.

Nice job! I'm particularly fond of the native tab in quick previewer. By the way congrats with your 7th anniversary! I bought X2 in July 2, 2004 - so that makes me an early adopter, right? Noticed that the price hasn't changed much since than.
By the way a minor bug exists in the new version: if you change the treeview to large icons and return to normal again then the tree branches don't shorten, which looks a bit odd especially when you try to collapse/expand with the mouse exactly located on those little triangles; it simply doesn't work.

Up to the next 7 years.

I regularly see the same crash as Wimde has experienced it while x2 closes on Win7/64bit. No luck finding any dump with x2's Help menu ('no crash dump for this program version'). The crash happens after auto - saving settings.

I have the feeling that it might have to do with connected network drives as the crash does not happen on another machine without connected drives. And I saw several crashes while working with network drives...

Signature as follows (sorry - German):

which one of these numbers is the crash address? Also see if you can manually locate the minidump file in your %TEMP% folder, should be something like
x2minidump1.8.1.13***.mdmp
