Last time a mouse roared, it won the war. We're lucky that Grand Fenwick doesn't owe us money. The real wars of these days are of technical heritance though. Latest WTF: BMWs pointlessly filled with electronics can be hacked to open their doors. Brave new world.

The Falklands? Argentina got one good left-hook in, but they were down for the count right quick after that.

Geeks become mercenaries. There's hope for that "hip-factor" of ours to go up a few notches yet. I'll code for the Swiss as they're just so impeccable they make you lads look like slouches. Callipers or no.

(I'll have them strike South Africa first, just to cancel out the continent - less to worry about in the long run - then cometh Asia-minor.)

Accidentally, I thought you mentioned "The Mouse That Roared". (I still wonder why English-speaking countries keep using capital letters for every single word. Must be a try to hide dyslexia.)

Now what's a "geek" again? The newspapers tell us that Berlin grew "hipster burgers". Capitalism is the new geekery. At least they don't look like weirdos anymore, they still keep acting like they were. Makes me a sad panda.

I did allude to that book (titular capitalisation in English is a disorganised dance of guesswork and proper-nouns ) - what else would it have been, a film or something gauche like that? I just mentioned the Falklands because I was at a loss to remember the last time a banana republic did anything so audacious that it actually helped shorten the breadlines. Any other examples come to mind?

You declare war on America, the best they can do is to retaliate by blocking your escape through Cisalpine Gaul (heh, Americans and geography, eh? 1,500 years late to the party they are), and the rest is Draughts for Chess. You trade the Brits' own Blue Peacocks back to the Americans for - say, 20 nice new shiny ones to replace your rustbuckets and it all begins to sound like a plan.

The fall of the German Democratic Republic could count (but does not necessarily have to).

Yeah, they invited you to a party, someone trashed the hotel room and the Solidaritätszuschlag cost (apocryphally) you dummköpfe 2 trillion euros in damages to fix the plumbing and give them all free internet porn! That qualifies as a neat trick. :D

Is it too late to tell this story to Greece?

So... you want them to get cosy with Macedonia again? When the kingdom of Paeonia was populated by Thracian dogs? I don't think they'd go for that - but they do have some "slightly used" Olympic equipment that they could trade you for store credit. The trouble is that they learned back in the Greco-Persian Wars that "pulling a fast one" was just as likely to succeed against you as it is for you, so either they're the best poker players in the world, or they just don't think this world is as superficially important as you do. After alI, until you dig up a God of your own that can give Zeus a run for his money (no pun intended) Germany is more of a yapping Chihuahua than an Alsatian Wolf.

On the positive side, isn't this a great example of the international nature of x2? Yes, x2 is a world-spanning project. Indeed, we x2 users are part of the Earth's most dynamic, universal experiment in the evolution of file management!

Also, I've had coffee—or Kaffee, as they call it in Germany, where they like to capitalize practically all nouns, not just the proper ones. That would drive me crazy, personally—how would you ever know what was an actual product name, title, etc., and not just a generic reference to something? They've been doing that a Long Time, though, so They must have Some Way to know What is What. (Maybe they're telepathic?)
