Any news from Kilmatead?

Post by CrossX »

@nikos
Any news from him? PM's or similar.
I see that his latest post is this one viewtopic.php?f=18&t=11516&p=72291#p72291 and it is dated November 16th.

He gave a particular touch to this Board and, frankly, I miss him and his loooong posts

Due to another incident in Eileen's Lounge where we lost a member who suddenly stopped posting, I'm also concerned about K's silence.

A post about bitcoin on Hexus on Sept. 11th of last year mentions an accident, but then after that date I had a brief PM interchange with him on Oct. 1st, where he mentioned listening to audio books while working outdoors. So the fall didn't stop him from working outdoors, or at least writing about it, because we know how K loves to write (I'm refusing to use past tense).

But then we haven't heard from Fred in a LONG TIME either. IIRC there was mention of backing away from moderator status, but total silence is something else.

fred is getting older and has more important things on his mind, but he at least has liked zabkat's facebook page so he is still around :)
as for kilmatead... he is missed for sure, who can match his long winded remarks?
living like a hermit has its risks, let's hope he's just fed up with us

if K doesn't even get his complimentary v4 upgrade key it means that he took up Buddhism and he's living like a hermit :)
I'll keep an eye open for keys issued

I hope Kilmatead is OK. He has dropped out for a while before but it seems he has been away for a long time. I like to think that he is off somewhere drinking a lot of Guinness and having some convoluted off topic conversations with some artistic/intellectual women.

Sláinte my friend.

One of the reasons I regularly check the forum is to absorb Kilmatead's wisdom.
His anonymity can only leave people guessing. I do miss him.

I guess that's the blessing, and the curse, of anonymity. No one can check on him, because no one knows who he is.
(Personally, I suspect alien abduction.)

Actually *I'm* an Irish person! I live in the States, but a recent 23andMe test indicated that I'm mostly British and Irish--which I didn't know.

I spend some time searching the web for Kilmatead. I did find a couple of old forum posts, which undoubtedly are his, however they didn't expose his address. Also found a review on Slant called "What are the best file managers for Windows?". One comment about xplorer2 was referring to Kilmatead, that I would like to share.
"Only realistic reason to visit their support forums is to read Kilmatead's posts -- for anything else prepare to be disappointed."
I don't support that statement, but I admit that when I'm visiting the forum the first thing I look for are Kilmatead's posts. Sadly, nowadays I visit the forum to see if there's news on Kilmatead.

So do I. I'm unsure about the victims though ... :)

You get what you (five finger discounted) for.

Seriously, though, it's truly sad that he is not around.

Back in 2010, Kilmatead posted some photos of around his property. A waterwheel and such. I can't find the original post, but here's one of the photos that I put a sloth infront of:

Some of the top images for "Kilatead House"
https://www.google.com/search?q=kilmate ... 92KGJ3KwM:
look similar.

The search also takes us here: http://www.askaboutireland.ie/reading-r ... -estate-/

And to this place in Dublin: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Corka ... 0235?hl=en

Finally, Google takes us here: http://source.southdublinlibraries.ie/b ... %20res.pdf

Where we finally find our mystery man:

That's right... The one we know as "Kilmatead" is actually that dog back there smelling the flowers.

Check and Mate.
