lite v3.3 in the store

Post by nikos »

xplorer2 lite isn't officially released yet, but as an experiment I put it in the windows store
https://www.microsoft.com/store/apps/9nblggh404xm

it is for windows 10 users only but the good news is that it is UNICODE and it works better with localized filenames

if you have a minute or 2 give it a quick star rating, or even write a short review, thanks!

"It is Unicode" is an amazingly low-technical description. What happened?

the regular lite version is ANSI only so it works everywhere. The store version only works for windows 10+ so it can be Unicode (==easy Chinese/greek/etc filenames)

Ah, so older x² Lite versions didn't work properly in your home country?

you need this workaround for the normal lite version: www.zabkat.com/blog/16May10-questionable-filenames.htm

Now I get it. Turns out I've used the capitalist editions for too long. Thanks for clarifying. :) That's actually rather nice.

You might want to update the table now.

Nikos, if it had the details panel I might even use it. I have AU on defer so I couldn't download it, well I assume that's why. M$ claimed I didn't have the requisite hardware. What does it want? An i7 6950X EE and a Terabyte of RAM. They missed an opportunity to offer me AU. It doesn't say it needs Windows 10 AU, just says Windows 10 - probably not under your control.

you need windows 10 version 1607 (anniversary) or better. Did you opt out from it? It was offered as an update last july

No as I said I deferred it, that might be a Pro only feature.

I think it'll offer itself again early in the New Year. 1607 Enterprise has only just started shipping, so its probably safe to install it now :shifty:

Getting stuff from the Windows Store is annoying as hell... apparently you have to login to Windows with a Microsoft account to get anything... even though there is an option to login to the app only...

oh, well... I installed x2 lite in a VM and then copied the install folder to the host and it runs fine... I guess I have it available to answer questions since I'm not going to use it for normal activities...
