A bug of Edit F4?

Post by ycheng »

Hi there,
xplorer2 makes my job more fun. I notice I could edit my text file by pressing F4, however, after I used View function by pressing F3 once, I cannot using Edit function anymore (I can only view file). Has anyone met this problem? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Editor² probably opens in View mode when you last used that mode. Just hit F6 to get into edit mode again.

But it is strange that F4 doesn't get you into edit mode right away :?
Dumb questions are the ones that are never asked :turn:

Thank you JRz. It works. Seems when explorer2 actives Editor2, explorer2 or Editor2 still remembers and keep using the latest mode (at least on my comoputer :) ). What's the purpose having both Edit (F4) and View (F3) in a menu? Thanks again.

you must have somehow messed up the automatic system
F3/F4 normally works automatically
my guess is you tweaked the viewer/editor from tools | options

I must have a strange system. Ctr-Alt-D (arrange by data) is not working either. Ctr-Alt-N and Ctr-Alt-T are fine.
Thank you all again.

Just in case: Did you mean date? (instead of "data").

ycheng,
Ctrl+Alt+D should work OK on date Modified, but not on Accessed nor on Created.
In details view mode, it should give the same result as clicking on the Modified column heading, including display of the little up- or down-pointing triangle indicator for which column is currently in use as the sort criterion.

Also check if you are using the standard variety of dates (in the ALT+K dialog, the columns appear with an [S] attached)

If you are using the Window's Modified date (without the [S] suffix), then you will not see a tringle in the column header when you press CTRL+ALT+D, because you have not selected the correct column. However, you should be able to see the reversal in actual sorting order when you press CTRL+ALT+D.
