Evan,

If you just click ignore to most assertions, you should be able to go on and try D-'n-D to see if it works.  :)

PS - By the way, no need to capture the errorbox as an image: simply hit Ctrl+C with the error box active and the text will be copied to the clipboard, from which you can paste to a text editor or directly to a BBS post with Ctrl+V.  [Thanks to nikos for reminding us all of this in another thread a couple of days ago.]

Managed to run the kenny,
where the images are disabled while dragging
but again it is crashing :(
it must be that Vista bug for copying and deleting files
i can believe vista is so bad at this

bad news :(
are you sure you were running the debug version? I know that sounds silly but many people get caught up with other xplorer2 instances running in parallel. Check what Help | About says. Or if you see assertion error boxes, that's debug version allright!

also, it should show no images while dragging, just a plain small rectangle under the cursor

can you send me the snapshot of the crash dialog? I want to see where the GPF occurs, is it still in shell32.dll?

try the following, copied from a post in x2 pro
http://forum.zabkat.com/viewtopic.php?t=5340
This problem was resolved when I installed KB938194
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=938194

Thanks again to those who replied to my message.
