AFAIK I don't have the rights to add a "global template", do I?

Nikos, please integrate the three areas: zabkat site, forums and wiki; by placing a common navigational strip at the top of all pages.

Hmm, adding pictures is rather hard.
File uploads are disabled.
How to add screenshots then?

No, you can't.  8)
Basically, you could with FTP & MySQL access... but not "officially" AFAIK.

Naw, the files will also have to be known in the wiki engine.

Anyway, there is a plug-in for that...

Exactly, and that's why I wanted a volunteer to do this "looking for plugins"+scripting....

Besides, there's something that I didn't reveal earlier: When I exported the images from the existing document, it gave them names based on page number+image number.

For example,
page 001 figure 01 is the x2 logo on the cover.
page 001 figure 02 is the "User Manual" text on the cover.
page 013 figure 02 is the tooltip screenshot.

Since the wiki does not have those pages any more, names based on page references are useless now.

So someone has to rename all the images before uploading.

Of course, all names have to follow some consistent scheme, because multiple volunteers would be inserting these images in the running text. They will have no idea what that image is called. Having a consistent naming scheme will help the volunteers to find the correct image quickly.

(If we can find a plugin that shows thumbnails of all available images, it will be great. Then the volunteer has only to flip through the album and click on an image to insert it.)

Anyhow, here is the proposed naming scheme (Can someone post all this as a guide to authors?)

1. Do not use space or underscore in names: Use only CamelCaseToSeparateWords

2. Omit articles such as "a", "an", "the" in the name.

3. The name must refer to the core IDEA of the image. So if a screenshot is encircling a small part that is of interest, the name must refer to that part.

Another example: The pdf file uses a "bulb" image to mark tips. So the image should be named "tip", not "bulb" or "LightUp".

4. If the image highlights an attribute or an action, then they should be part of the name, AFTER the subject. Similarly, the objects of the actions must follow the main subject of the image.

For example, if the purpose of an image is to demonstrate how x2 places an overlay on a file's icon, then the image can be named OverLayOnFileIcon.
(Here, overlay is the main subject, not the file's icon).

Another example: The image on p17 that shows gray keys on keyboard can be named "GrayKeysLocation"

5. It is preferable to use well-known acronyms (e.g. "LMB", "RMB")

6. Please use American spellings (to be consistent with the rest of the text).

one of the reasons greece run ashore is that people thought of 'others' as responsible of doing stuff. Well here it's just you me and tuxman, so don't ask what the wiki can do for you but the other way round ;)

i'll try to install this plugin as the experts say that the ftp I setup is useless

how did you upload images in your other wiki?
