Limit search to a folder

Post by rbressler »

I want to search ONLY the root folder on thumb drive J. When I choose J:\, I get a search in ALL the folders on J. Is there a way to limit the search to the root folder?

you can add a rule on PATH attribute and fix it on the root path e.g J:\
you must add it as an advanced rule and make sure it is matched as full text (IS instead of CONTAINS).
all in all, the trouble isn't worth it I think, you'd better search the whole drive, sort by path then just concentrate on the root results :)

also note that deskrule searches in a breadth-first fashion, which means that if you start search on J:\ it will first search J: root then it will go into subfolders. So when you start seeing results coming from deeper folders, you can stop the search
