F4x4... there are a number of reasons that your cd rom is not being recognized. My 1st suggestion would be to make sure the cd is set to slave if it is using the same IDE connection as the hard drive. your HD is Master and the CD is slave. you have to change the jumper setting on the backend of the cd rom drive itself. there should be a diagram on top of the drive that shows you pin placement.
I am not sure if you are getting any error messages or not because you didn't say.
I will check back here if you want to post any more info on what is going on, errors you are getting, etc.

Thank you Mim, I got it thanks to you. I had my rom set as master on the secondary. Changed it to slave on primary, works like a champ. I am most greatful for your help....:) :) :)
