My Bookmarks are inactive for some unkown reason? Any ideas on how I could turn this functionality on?

they become active as you set bookmarks using the available slots. As the menu item text and status bar description suggest, you need to press all at the same time [Ctrl+Shift+number] where number is in the range 0-5 to set bookmarks at the current active folder. Use the same procedure to overwrite existing bookmarks
