Where is folder history stored when xplorer is open

Post by jashchro »

I figured that xplorer saves folder history in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ZabaraKatranemia Plc\xplorer2_UC\MainFrame Settings\Folder History" when it exits. I am wondering where does it store the history when xplorer is running? I noticed that folder history in drop down is not the same in the registry.

it isn't stored anywhere, it's in live program memory (RAM)

I would like to make a new feature request.... an option to write the folder history in memory to the registry or to a file when xplorer is in idle state.

Another related request is to have a history of the "back"s and "forward"s as a dropdown on the back and forward buttons like most browsers.

Incidently, I haven't figured out exactly what, but I find that back and fwd work differently in x2 than on other explorers. Sometimes back or forward takes me to a folder that - admittedly - I was at some stage, but wasn't the one immediately before or after the current folder.

Is there any explicit shortcutting happening on selecting these functions, Nikos? Something like "user navigated into this folder, but by pressing back - according to some heuristic - he actually probably wants to hop 4 folders back"?

the manual explains the 'logic' in some appendix
you get a more conventional history if you <ctrl+right click> on a pane titlebar
