Xplorer2 featured at lifehacker.com
lifehacker.com is a poweruser's site that I visit every day. It features lots of productivity tips and cool tools. It was great to see mention of xplorer2 there today.

Help! I'm an AI running around in someone's universe simulator.
that explains the extra traffic, although by the looks of it it is more of a slashdot mob, check out the type of comments about it:

still all publicity is good publicity

Even though some didn't bother, there are enough who did take the time to learn and/or RTFM that there are many very positive words for x2 there amidst the postings from folks who seem to prefer to provide knee-jerk opinions without evaluation.
Let's not paint them all with same brush.
Even though I singled out those who didn't bother to ask (or read), there is a lot of diversity there -- much of it competent.
And the point is well-made in a couple of posts that selection of a file manager is more often than not based on personal preferences and peeves.
The nearly universal peeve being recognition of the sh!!ty functionality of the M$ products.
So, overall I rate it as positive press.

There's a new Lifehacker article out there praising X², check it out:
The Best Alternative File Browser for Windows
And if only they knew how to enable to 'Robust' copy/delete features of X², they would have had nothing negative to say ("it uses Windows Explorer's built-in file operations").

Your link points to a 4 year old article on xplorer2. I think you meant to point to the current article:snakebyte wrote:lifehacker.com is a poweruser's site that I visit every day. It features lots of productivity tips and cool tools. It was great to see mention of xplorer2 there today.

You'll note that Snakebyte's original post (which you quoted) was - strangely enough - 4 years ago. It would have been quite interesting if he could have posted a link to something in 2011 back in 2007.pschroeter wrote:Your link points to a 4 year old article on xplorer2
You can blame Thracx for bumping this thread. Which, if nothing else, offers the curious reader the opportunity to compare LifeHacker's review style - which seems to have degraded badly into empty brevity. People really rely upon this site?

Let us review Lifehacker then!FrizzleFry wrote:In this Twitter age a couple of paragraphs is a review... I guess.
While they seem to have pretty much of an idea how everything works (and they are one of the last websites which don't follow the latest hypes), they are still wrong often enough.

Regarding Lifehacker, this "App Directory" is a relatively new feature that differs somewhat from what you might be used to seeing.
Before you get too critical of them, they did headline the article: "The Best Alternative File Browser for Windows"....
As far as relying on the site, I consider Lifehacker definitely worth reading, at least.
