Ultimate New Tab Same Window

Post by IneedHelp »

There seems to be an issue with the Ultimate version and opening new tabs in the same window. When opening folders outside x2, those folders open in new x2 windows and not in the same window (new tab) anymore, even if the option is selected in the advanced settings editor.

Any way to fix this?

No, I checked. Using /N /M /T for the registry entries.

could it be a different layout /S then? There isn't anything in the ultimate version that's different in this respect

I haven't changed anything after transitioning from Pro to Ultimate. Same layout, same settings. And the registry entries look like this:
______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Code: Select all

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Directory\shell]
@="open_x2"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Directory\shell\open_x2]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Directory\shell\open_x2\command]
@="\"C:\\Program Files\\zabkat\\xplorer2_ult\\xplorer2_64.exe\" /S:mihais13 /N /M /T \"%1\""

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Drive\shell]
@="open_x2"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Drive\shell\open_x2]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Drive\shell\open_x2\command]
@="\"C:\\Program Files\\zabkat\\xplorer2_ult\\xplorer2_64.exe\" /S:mihais13 /N /M /T \"%1\""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell]
@="open_x2"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\open_x2]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\open_x2\command]
@="\"C:\\Program Files\\zabkat\\xplorer2_ult\\xplorer2_64.exe\" /S:mihais13 /N /M /T \"%1\""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell]
@="open_x2"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell\open_x2]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell\open_x2\command]
@="\"C:\\Program Files\\zabkat\\xplorer2_ult\\xplorer2_64.exe\" /S:mihais13 /N /M /T \"%1\""
I tried toggling between reading settings from the registry or from the ini file, still didn't help.

the question is, when you used the advanced settings editor, did you make sure you selected the mihais13 layout from the drop-down menu?

Hi,
I personally don't need this feature, but I switched the option for test purposes. If I right-click a folder in Windows Explorer and choose “open_x2”, folders do open as a new tab in the currently running instance of x2 Ultimate. No problem here.
Except that the right-click context menu of “My Documents” or “My Computer” do not include the “open_x2” item. Is this by design?
Because they are “special folders”?
HTH.
Cheers,
Robert

Here's what I did:

1. exited x2 ult.
2. loaded old reg settings.
3. renamed installation folder.
4. reinstalled the application.
5. copied stuff back (license, skin, dll, pdf)

and now new tabs open in the same window.

I'll experiment some more to see what may have caused it not to open tabs in the same window- I suspect that it has something to do with switching to saving settings to ini.

Using x2 pro 2.1

I have Bookmarks set for dual panes.

In single pane mode I access a dual pane bookmark.  It opens two tabs in the single pane, instead of switching to dual pane mode and setting each pane as per the saved bookmark.

How do I get x2 to open my dual pane bookmarks in dual pane mode not tabs?

I mention here because it seems this could be related to the issue in this thread...?

not related; dual bookmarks are designed to work like you observed, there's nothing amiss there
