It would be nice if I could hit F2 when viewing a zip and type a new name for a file.
I am NOT asking for multiple file renaming, just a single file
It shouldn't be too hard to do, given I can cut file from zip, hit backspace, paste it into the containing folder, rename it, cut it again and paste it back into the zip.

I don't think rename is a function supported in zip protocol

I think there were zip apps that could do this. I think the app had to extract rename/delete the file, and rezip.

Don't worry about it nikos - I wouldn't expect you to break with 'protocols'.
