[Request] rename item in a zip

Post by RightPaddock »

It would be nice if I could hit F2 when viewing a zip and type a new name for a file.

I am NOT asking for multiple file renaming, just a single file

It shouldn't be too hard to do, given I can cut file from zip, hit backspace, paste it into the containing folder, rename it, cut it again and paste it back into the zip.

I don't think rename is a function supported in zip protocol

I think there were zip apps that could do this. I think the app had to extract rename/delete the file, and rezip.

Yes most of the archivers will do it it, but diving into an archive utility to rename one file isn't worth the trouble.

Don't worry about it nikos - I wouldn't expect you to break with 'protocols'.
