x2: Kernel fault after closing the program

Post by uwee »

Hello Nikos,

i ever get a kernel page fault after exiting your great program when i have used the right mouse context menu (i cant remember since what version of x2 but i think this is quite new..)

Failure text (german): "Ungültige Seite in KERNEL32. DLL bei 016f:bff8e64b..."

im quite sure that i never get a fault if i dont use the context menu during the whole session...

Is it possible that x2 interferes with other programs which are modifying the context menu?

My system: Win ME, X2 048

Regards Uwe

in winME... anything goes!
I have never tested x2 on ME
if you can get a Dr Watson log for the crash I could look into it

Unfortunately my damned computer doesnt work with 2000 or XP either since a few weeks (but with 98 and ME) :(

I think this is a severe hardware problem (IDE controller?)

Nikos, i have sent the DrWatson logfile to you via email....

Unintentionally i found a solution:

after unregistering the zipfldr.dll the kernel page fault doesnt reappears!

that zipfldr.dll that ships with ME is real bad. It works for 2000 too (just) but whenever I use it it leaks tons of system resources (a scarce commodity for ME) for each zipfolder. Thankfully the XP implementation is much better

Nikos,

did you know wheter the zipfldr.dll out of Win2000 or XP even works under ME?

Then i would try that version of the dll; perhaps it solves the problem....

the 2000 version i was talking about, I took it from ME
I think I tried the XP version on 2000, and i think it didn't work because of some missing imports, but i'm not 100% sure
