use as default not working after undo
Hi,
I had xplorer2 pro working with xplorer2 pro functioning as a Window Explorer replacement. In working my way around the progra, I clicked on "Undo explorer replacement In Options/Advanced. I then reinstalled xplorer2 pro, clicking on "Open all filesystem with xplorer2 (replace windows explorer)," but the Windows Explorer replacement function no longer works. Can anyone help? I've tried uninstallling/reinstalling multiple times with no luck.

Re: use as default not working after undo
try a reboot and if it still doesn't work first uninstall the BETA version 2408 then reninstall the BETA. It's not a good idea to mix it with 2401
Re: use as default not working after undo
I went to my doctor with a pain in my shoulder. I said, "Doc, it hurts when I do this." He said, "Don't do that."

Re: use as default not working after undo
v2.5 radically changed the way it handles folders. I didn't say not to do anything, I said stick with the beta. Or stick with the older version, just don't mix them
Re: use as default not working after undo
Here's the problem, about which you don't seem to care: On multiple machines, if I "undo" the Windows Explorer replacement function, then I can no longer "redo" it. But I'm supposed to be able to, right? So I have a paid-for version of xplorer2 pro which doesn't work correctly. Do I just consider that money spent badly? Because that seems to be what you're telling me to do.nikos wrote:v2.5 radically changed the way it handles folders. I didn't say not to do anything, I said stick with the beta. Re: use as default not working after undo
the reason it doesn't work is that you have mixed the versions. Install the beta, then uninstall it. From then on, whichever version you choose to install as an explorer replacement WILL BE replacing explorer
Re: use as default not working after undo
No, that's not the reason it doesn't work. Please read my posts. I didn't add the beta version until after I had tried multiple times, without success, to get v2.4.0.1 to re-establish itself as the default file manager. Only when I couldn't make it work then did I install the beta. Which is a very nice product, by the way.nikos wrote:the reason it doesn't work is that you have mixed the versions. Re: use as default not working after undo
can you post these entries from the registry from these computers where it doesn't work for you:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder
I would need to see all the subkeys and values

Re: use as default not working after undo
I've exported the above keys, but I don't see a way to upload them. If you send me an email address (gkarasik at gkarasik dot net), I'll zip and send them to you. Or do you have an FTP site? Or any alternative way to upload them?nikos wrote:can you post these entries from the registry from these computers where it doesn't work for you:

the REG files are text, so just paste the "code" here

Re: use as default not working after undo
I removed all the irrelevant registry keys.
you need to change the default value of HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell to "open" from "none" as hilighted
(you are installing the stable version 2.4 it seems)
sanity question: are you ticking "open all folders with xplorer2" when you install?

I'm confused. I don't know what you mean by, "I removed all the irrelevant registry keys."
