Un/Documented Features - what do you use?

Post by profess »

Ways of selecting files:
Just discovered using Keypad + sign for selecting a bunch of files matching filename / extension etc. I would normally use Alt+G or Alt+H. Pressing alt+num plus runs the last selection filter. You can fine tune, adding and subtracting selected files, using Num plus + and Num minus - symbols on the keypad.

--
i wanted to know, how to select files quickly, for the selected filetype, eg I have 1 file selected (a txt file), can you press a key combo / shortcut for x2 to select all files of that type? autofilter?
--

So lead me to think - - -
Workflow and getting around (default keyboard layout)

Within dual panes:
Tab - switches panes
Ctrl+e - resize panes to be equal (left and right), or maximise current pane view
Ctrl+Tab - switches to the miniscrap, if displayed, and then to the address bar
Shift+Tab - switches to the address bar directly
Ctrl+Insert - clones the current tab / opens new tab

(select file(s) or folders+files)
Alt+Enter - view the file properties dialog for selected item(s)
Ctrl+Insert - clones the current tab / opens selected folders in new tabs

(select a single folder)
Alt+Enter - loads the folder in the other pane

So, I (slowly) make my way around x2 and the file system, trying to remember all sorts of keyboard handiness.

What tricks or shortcuts do you use within x2 which you think may have gone unnoticed by the masses? What 'workarounds' <cough> do you use which makes your x2 work-flow a little easier?

Thanks. So you agree there are some hidden features :)

What's handy is if you can see someone in action with the commands. That's why, as basic as it seems, I explained switching panes and tried to explain in simple terms. Also semi describes a walkthrough and how it is expected to o play out. I get it that it's not always easy to explain though.

Some novicey walkthroughs / vids would always be nice. Though I've been using xplorer2 for a while you can always pick up a new tip or combo. Sometimes the teacher learns from the student (many times in fact).

If I could watch some of y'all in keyboard action that would be cool. Sub7 anyone? Guess Teamviewer et al will have to do :)

Alt+F9 - which repeats last Ctrl+F9.
I use this all the time. Way more often than F9 or Crl+F9.
Not mentioned in x2docs.pdf or Quick Start. Only documented in a Tip of the Day.
