Vertical blue dividing lines

Post by Lee Griggs »

Hi, I am getting these vertical blue dividing lines between columns in Ultimate. In professional I don´t see them. Is there a tick box somewhere that I can disable them with_

try TOOLS > ADVANCED OPTIONS menu and in there find "disable some vista effects" and try it. I'm not sure if it will work but try and see!

I only see Tools> Options (advanced tab), but nothing there only:

'Show column header for all view styles (Visa or later)'

I am using Ultimate. Is there a difference in these options compared to Professional?
Should I be using Professional? I had it on my previous machine.

It's TOOLS > ADVANCED OPTIONS you want, not Tools> Options (advanced tab).

Yeh, I only see Tools> Options which makes me think it is a difference between Ultimate and Professional.

Tools | Options | Window. Is "Plain Menu" checked (bottom right corner).
It should not be checked, if it is you don't get the full menus.

I'm running 4.3.0.1 Ultimate.

Thanks, Gandolf. @nikos why are these things all over the place? It is such a confusing mess and so difficult to remember where something is and find it.

these things are where they are. How do you propose to make them "more tidy"? Tidy is what you're used to
the advanced options dialog has a search box (lower left) that allows you to find options quickly

open the program options dialog, click on Window tab and you will find the plain menus option near the bottom right end. Tick it off and you will get the full menus

as said, you need to launch the advanced settings editor (TOOLS > ADVANCED OPTIONS menu command), and in there tick "disable some vista effects":
