Illegal Character (Trailing Space)

Post by Uzer99 »

Hello,

Can you provide precise instructions how to rename multiple folders/files that contain a trailing space? On Windows machine it is making it an invalid 0 byte file. I have tried to individually rename them (The source and destination file names are the same) and mass rename ($B) some folders that have a trailing space but only receive error messages or no action/change. I've also tried using Find with the parameter "* " and folders checked but this doesnt work either.

The folder/files were ftp from a server. In this case, the files are ok but the parent folder has the trailing space and cant be changed. Can x2 accomplish this?

you could do a "search and replace" rename, to remove all spaces, if you don't mind removing any other spaces that may be there

What is the syntax and where is this located? Through the mass rename function or through F2 function or Find? More information would be helpful.
