how to find all folders and files in a folder

Post by jimspoon »

I used Ctrl+F to find all Folders and Files in a specified folder. "Named: *.*" doesn't return the folders, because my folder names don't have periods in their names. On the other hand, "Named: *" returns the error message "The search filter must not be completely unconstrained". So what is the simplest way to find both the folders and the files?

This works for me: ?* (a question mark followed by an asterisk). I think that means "at least one character followed by anything at all (including nothing)". If there is a file with a zero-character name I do not know what happens; likewise, if there is a file with a space or a multi-space name I do not know what happens. But it does list files and folders, including single-character named files (no extension) and folders.
