Color folders based on existence of a file

Post by tbolick »

I'd like to be able to have a folder be a color if it has a particular file in it (DONE.txt). Maybe even subdirectory option?

Can this be done?

Thanks.

if the file is in a direct subfolder, then you could use the CONTENTS [S] column with a special filter that looks for the particular file. The contents column normally shows all the subfolder contents (say 10 items) but you can use TOOLS > ADVANCED OPTIONS menu to use a different wildcard or a fixed file, to what you want (search for File count rule). Then you setup a color rule based on count column equal to 1

if you have ULTIMATE edition, you can alternatively use the programmable column and use the EXISTS() function to test for the presence of a file, see the manual for more information
