wrt extended properties for "exotic" xxx file formats, you can always google for ".xxx property handler for windows explorer" and see what comes up. Many times the codec you play the file has the property handler embedded, but as K said it's hit and miss

Especially in the case of some "codec-packs" (K-Lite, etc), where the Icaros PropertyHandler is included by default, providing much functionality that people just take for granted these days (not least thumbnailing). Unfortunately it's not a comprehensive property handler (nothing is), though it is at least consistently updated and much better than Windows stock.nikos wrote:Many times the codec you play the file has the property handler embedded

Re: xplorer2 beta 3108
for read-write support of audio properties this was recommended https://dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm
i'm not sure how it works with the trial, but even after expiry the property handlers remain registered (I'm told)

Re: xplorer2 beta 3108
when using the character range token in the mass renamer I get this error:
---------------------------
xplorer²
---------------------------
The name template contains characters that are illegal for files.
The rename command will most probably fail; continue anyway?
---------------------------
Yes No
---------------------------
the resulting new names are valid and the rename works but this spurious error is annoying...
I think this was happening in previous versions also so it might be a good time to fix it...

Re: xplorer2 beta 3108
it must have been there from v3 because i didn't touch the rename code since. Anyway what kind of template are you using causing the error?

Re: xplorer2 beta 3108
I had $B in what to replace and $[8:4] in target name template... as I said previously, the rename was actually done correctly but I'm getting that error anytime I use the character range token...
I'm guessing it's because of the colon (:)

Re: xplorer2 beta 3108
now i see how this happens, you are using the range operator in the target template. It is benign. I don't see how can i easily differentiate this from a real invalid template... anyway in the meantime i found a serious bug there, try using match "$B$[2:3]" and hit preview

Re: xplorer2 beta 3108
the safely remove context menu command for drive bar icons (of external USB hard drives) has not worked for me so far... I get a brief spinner but nothing else happens...
using the safely remove icon in the tray usually works...

Re: xplorer2 beta 3108
i know
at least you make sure xplorer2 isn't using the drive, and usually it makes the second safely remove (from the tray) much easier
i couldn't find information how to remove such drives except for ridiculously difficult or/and undocumented tricks
