I just thought of something, you can put a REM (comment) as part of the command, e.g.
so you can use that part as a title to remember what it does

That certainly helps a bit. You must admit though, being able to select a template by a title you have given it is much easier than searching through a list of lines of code.
How can I get rid of the others in the list that are no longer required?

this list isn't manually controlled at all. How you use it determines the order of the items. When you put new ones, the older gets the boot
