If nothing else I agree about enhancing the method of closing tabs.
My first instinct when I wanted to close one was to middle click on it, which is just a habit from using Maxthon for so long. But alas......

Thanks for the tabs anyway nikos! A great new feature!

What about Ctrl+Tab for keyboard switching? This is what most tabbed browsers, etc. use.

AFAIK, Ctrl+Tab in x2 simply duplicates Shift+Tab (switching between address bar and active pane), so there would be no loss of shortcut keys.

Then perhaps Ctrl+Alt+Left/Right could be used for moving tabs via the keyboard?

Awesome idea longfellow! Don't know why I didn't think of the Ctrl-Tab idea.
If it gave you the full path of the tab when using it, it would make selecting the correct one so much easier. It gets a bit cryptic trying to work it out when you've got ten tabs open and only a single letter as a clue to which one it is.  :D
(I know there's a tool tip for the full path but it can be a bit slow waiting for it to appear as you hover the curser over each tab)

Doesn't Ctrl-Tab just duplicate the Shift-Tab shortcut though?

Ctrl+Tab goes directly to the tree pane
Shift+Tab goes directly to the addressbar

Subsequent Ctrl+Tab or Shift+Tab toggles between the two.

x2 historically has used Alt+Left/Right to navigate back/fwd along active pane history; so nikos chose Ctrl+Alt+Left/Right to switch to the adjacent tabs on the active pane.

However, I believe that the Shift+Left/Right pair is unused, as is Shift+Alt+Left/Right ;)

Ah. I rarely use the tree pane so hadn't noticed the subtle difference.
I'd still be happy to Shift-Tab twice to get to the tree pane if Ctrl-Tab could be used for the tabs though

I'm now slowly getting used to Ctrl+Alt+Left/Right to switch between tabs. Once I remember that Alt+Left/Right takes me through the tab history and stop getting the two confused I should be right.  :?

Middle clicking a tab to close it would still be pretty cool though.....

Yeah, same here. (BTW, a search for Ctrl+Tab in the manual yields no results.)

fgagnon's suggestion of using the Shift key as a modifier to the Left/Right arrows is intriguing; this would be very easy to use with the current  Ctrl+Alt+Left/Right combo..

Probably the ultimate solution is custom key bindings, then everyone has their fave key combos at their fingertips.   :)

(BTW, a search for Ctrl+Tab in the manual yields no results.)

CTRL+Tab is covered on p51-52 of the User Manual.

Probable reasons why you missed it during your search:
1. Older version of manual? (get the latest version: 1.1.0.3)
2. The search was case-sensitive. (Turn the option off)
3. You entered space anywhere in CTRL+TAB
(it does not contain any spaces)

Sorry, now I am really confused...

I have version 1.1.0.3-1 of the manual (or so it says on the cover page and footers).

Pgs. 51 -52 deal with "Marking all items that match a rule" (nothing to do with the tree).

"Match case" is off. Ctrl+Tab (with or without spaces) still yields no results.

How could my manual be so different from what you describe?

Ok, got it!  Though still listed as 1.1.0.3-1, this version is 2.42 Mb versus the 1.89 Mb of the old 1.1.0.3-1.  Now I can see Ctrl+Tab on pg. 51. Hooray! & Thanks!  :)

Um... would it be possible to have some kind of notification when the manual is updated, so everyone can keep up-to-date with this most excellent resource?  Perhaps an "updated manual out" notice on the Zabkat front page?  Or something on the alldown page?

If (like me) you check the alldown page and see the version you already have (and don't check the posted file size vs. the size of the file you have), you assume (incorrectly) that you are up-to-date.  :(
