how are you trying to use it? As default association or from  the command line?
Started from the command line. Tried to open with Ctrl-O
i don't know, did you enclose path+file in quotes, for avoiding space problems?
No (see above). But I avoided space problems. Also using an 8.3 filename and a simple path to check it.

it is only trying to help you avoid disasters stemming from
absent-mindedness! If you made changes and switched to read-only, it probably thinks you are either too young or too old or a bit dim (or combinations thereof) and hence need extra protection
No, no, no! I agree with this statement. But if you *don't* change anything it shouldn't ask for saving regardless if it's from editor or read-only mode (like it's default for the internals or the editor-only mode for editor2). At least that would be consistend with your development so far.

i can't reproduce that at all
the only expected problem if you include a filename in the command line which contains spaces
[Ctrl+O] should never fail!

>I get the warning I/O accessing "path\filename"

is the path\filename the path you wanted or is it cropped in any way? Does it happen in read-only mode only with rtf files?

You know what? I can't reproduce it anymore either. Must have been one of those inexplicable Windows quirks. I don't know.

The only thing I notice is that one can't switch from read-only rtf mode to editor mode while it's possible to open an rtf file with codes with the editor and switch to read-only (though the display of the codes stays).

But why bother. Nobody is going to edit the "raw" rtf anyway (not even me).

One question about search & replace in your editors. Usually it remembers the last input o.k. But why is it it can't remember that the last replace action was empty (for deletion of strings). Is that by design?

And to the announced ruthless comparison to another editor I found. I love editor2 dearly, but I'm impressed with this 23k sized goodie

http://members.ozemail.com.au/~nulifetv ... /edxor.htm

and might suggest swiping some of its little features. Challenged?

(Don't hurt me  )

i think the replace box fetches the first item from the history list, which is the most recent used

but you can always go back to this exdor thing that has no histories whatsoever!

so what was it that impressed you most about it? (apart from its size)

Text file preview

Post by riveter »

I know I can view a text file by pressing F3. But can I dock the text viewer so it will act like the thumbnail viewer, so that when I single click on the text file it will preview in a pane? Thank you.
