I installed the x2 browser toolbar briefly and I liked some of its features but what I really do not like is that it does not have an option to open search results in a new tab. I have that option enabled for both the built in FF search box and the Google toolbar.

The feature I like the most in Google toolbar is that it puts the search terms on the toolbar so I can click to find them in the active tab. This is actually the main reason that I install Google toolbar at all.

I would be willing to try out x2 toolbar again if the open search results in new tab option is added. I am too used to this behavior to give it up.

BTW, I use Firefox 3.0.7 currently.

i don't know about opening search results in a new tab, but the search keywords are available, and for firefox they are displayed exactly as in google toolbar. They are just placed to the far right past the last toolbar button. So what you can do is use the toolbar properties to remove all the unnecessary buttons, then the search keywords will show easier

the keyword in-page search feature of the toolbar is much better handled in internet explorer, as i have explained in the blog:

When (if ever) will the toolbar be updated to be compatible with the new version of FireFox (4.0)?

ditto for the e-mail notifier for Chrome?

FF4 declares that it is not compatible, so doesn't install it.

The basic conduit toolbar works with chrome, but I could not find any email notifier component.

Well, I was a few hours too early with my complaint about the toolbar not being compatible with FF4.  Later today there was an update [3.3.3.2] to the FF version that fixes this. :)

However, the Chrome version [2.0.0.69] still has no email notifier with it. :(
