There's a lot to be said for the recalcitrant labyrinth of inebriated reviewing.

Not sure what would happen if one were to subject x2 to the same scientific level of ergonomic scrutiny...

I haven't read any articles on Windows 8 and despite my unoriginal comment posted in this thread on Mon Apr 09, 2012 9:27 pm regarding the Windows releases quality pattern, I must say that after running Windows 8 for almost two months on my secondary system, it is quite great.

- Regarding stability and performance, it most certainly isn't lower than Windows 7's.
- For those concerned about Aero- it isn't gone, just the glass effect isn't supported by default.
- While the start button has been pushed away, there are literally over a couple dozen solutions to bring it back or to emulate it (ClassicShell or Start8 being among the most popular solutions), so it really isn't a big deal.
- What I personally like the most is the UI improvements of the windows explorer file processing box (which is shown even if you're using x2) and those of the Taskmanager.

The only true horror of Windows since Vista was and still is Windows Explorer as a file manager. But that matters the least since we're using xplorer2.

While Windows 8 has disabled a lot of legacy features, most of them can be brought back one way or the other. For example, Windows 8 doesn't allow accessing the boot menu anymore (the reasoning behind that decision is plainly retarded), but it can be re-enabled by using:

Code: Select all

bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy
in the command prompt.

All in all, as a long-time Windows XP and Windows 7 user, I find Windows 8 to be the best of them (as it should naturally be since it's the latest version).
