Actually v2.0 final - out now! is the one you're talking about. This thread was started when Nikos started working on v2 :Dkunkel321 wrote:Remember also that THIS particular thread "xplorer2 2.0," was started by Nikos WHEN he released v2.0. So naturally, none of the recommendations in this thread would be in v2.0. (Something about law of cause and effect.)

If that were true, I would definitely be putting the cart before the horse. But somehow that just doesn't make sense. It was my understanding he just released 2.0 this week. This thread has been going on LONG before that. My assumption was this thread was about what was to be included in this release that just came out.kunkel321 wrote:RE: Integration of feature requests...
...WHEN he released v2.0....
Am I wrong about that?
In fact, the first entry in this thread states: "I am about to start work on x2 v2 with the following main additions...."

Now this
I come again and ask this
doesn't go well with thisbmolony wrote:It is no better than the version 1... that I already had.
And considering thisbmolony wrote:Now I am certainly not saying there were not quite a few improvements in the newest version.
Code: Select all
You do not have to upgrade to v2.0 if you don't need the extra new features. Your old key will continue working for the last stable version 1.81.
IneedHelp wrote:bmolony, from x2 customer to x2 customer, from user to user: why the hell did you pay for the upgrade before checking first if it has the extras you need (or the ones you asked for) ?

There's no both, it's really the same (one and only) question, and I did read what you previously said before posting... but I honestly didn't believe that thisbmolony wrote:I answered both of those in my initial comments and my first follow up. Perhaps you need to go back and read them rather than jumping to conclusions.
was your answer, merely an excuse.Well it should be obvious (at least it is to me now), that I put too much trust in all the openness of this thread. I really believed that all of the suggestions being made were indeed getting serious consideration. And I felt mine were too. Yet, the bottom line is that what I finally ended up with was far below my expectations.
You're an old man, you should know better than being naive. Check first then believe. Not to mention that this probably isn't the only v2 release- future updates could include what you asked for. It's not the end of the road.
And how exactly am I jumping to conclusions here:

Perhaps.bmolony wrote:Perhaps I should have been a bit more clear with this sentence: "It is no better [FOR ME] than the version 1... that I already had."
But here's something you was pretty clear with:
bmolony wrote:I even had to pay the $19.95 upgrade price.
Sir, you did not have to pay for the upgrade.bmolony wrote:But the bottom line is that I am NOT happy for having to pay for something that does not do me a bit better than the "old" version.
A little extra reminder...

If you indeed want to get that technical, certainly I did not HAVE to pay for it. It is a choice I made. I was not attempting to belittle my part in making that decision.
But to really get techinical, within the context I used that statement, I was saying it because I missed getting the upgrade for free by only a matter of days. Yet, that was a deadline. There must be a specific date and I was beyond it. It was not a complaint but rather simply an observation.
My only real complaint was that I did not get what I expected.
And by the way, I have been simply overlooking the rather personal "old man" comment. While I might indeed be relatively old, I am also FAR more experienced. For a "youngster" like you apparently are, you really need to learn some manners and have more respect for your "elders"!

Good, because you said twice that you did have to pay. Perhaps you should have been a bit more clear, at least once.bmolony wrote:If you indeed want to get that technical, certainly I did not HAVE to pay for it.
Dear age-impaired person, I consider respect is something to be earned, not imposed. :lawl:bmolony wrote:And by the way, I have been simply overlooking the rather personal "old man" comment. As for being more experienced... yes, you may have experienced a lot more winter seasons than me, can't argue with that.

Hey it's a good time to be an American capitalist. Our super-rich get to have lots of great tax breaks and other goodies, and (apparently) not even our president can do anything about it. As far as I know, the republicans are still making jokes about the dept ceiling and the potential of crashing the global economy. Hey it's all good though. Some tentative agreement has apparently been reached in that regard. There'll be 1,000,000,000,000 USD in spending cuts, but as long as the super-rich get to stay super-rich, bygod this is still America!

A wonder has happened:
After several years
of arguing finally the spin controls in the settings for advanced rules (e.g. for setting a file size for a search) work correctly and x2 moves up, if the up-arrow gets clicked.
(Without life-time(?) assurance I would have had to pay for the new key for the correction of a long-standing bug.

So true! Black Friday happens every year, the day after the American Thanksgiving holiday (third Thursday in November). Great sales, terrible hoards of crazed holiday shoppers.Tuxman wrote:Hint to everyone that may have missed it: Good ol' American capitalism led the Americans to the "Black Friday". And they're going there again.
There is also a "Black Monday" syndrome when the US stock market likes to nose dive off the 48th floor balcony. Too bad more CEO's don't follow that time-honored tradition. I believe it started on a Black Friday, 1929. Ah, American fickleness!
