Well, the comparison table is from 2007
It must be some differences now...

that's hardly the point of this blog post. That's why it was just mentioned in passing; but I dare anybody to beat xplorer2 in terms of performance too

"Browse everywhere". I could remember the days that I could not use xplorer2 to browse my phone. But true, that is now possible and I was using xplorer2 using this weekend to find those pesky jpg's where the name started with a dot.

Hmm does raise a question... Is there a xplorer2 APP for Android planned ?

There are more on Android, I know. There is also a free Total Commander, which I use. But I'm interested what Nikos would make out of a Android implementation.

Having just acquired a tablet and installed the first-listed (by popularity) file mgr in the google (why do they call it "play"?) store, I'm glad to see your recommendations of a couple of dual pane ones. I will be checking them out, even while I wish there were an x2 edition for android.
(I obviously hadn't tried very hard to look for one as I'm still trying to learn the features of my new 2nd gen nexus 7 -- which I'm lovin', so far.)
Thanks for the "heads up" guys.

Because it also sells music and movies.

Try Solid Explorer. There is a free trial. I immediately fell in love with it.

If you'd prefer (inferior) free alternatives after trying Solid Explorer, you might also want to try X-plore (very weird user interface), FX File Explorer (one of the most GUI-polished dual-panel FMs I have stumbled upon on Android; no "cloud" access in the free version though), or Total Commander (which comes nowhere near the first three mentioned apps IMO).

I don't know anything about android programming. If I needed to learn something from scratch I'd probably go for apple stuff, where people pay for software :)

Nikos, people pay for software on the iPhone because they are willing to pay for something that is easy to use, intuitive and foolproof.

That is not a customer base you have experience with. You may find that creating an app for the iPhone is not as easy as you think. There is an old saying (I am full of those today): "Write a program that is foolproof and only a fool will use it.". But many iPhone users expect that - draw our own conclusions.
