they don't make them like they used to

I still have my earliest laptop from the student years, a dell pentium III inspiron (dual boot 98/xp). It doesn't have an internet connection (it has a modem i think) but it still works, and I can still compile and link xplorer2 on it using VS6! It takes around 15 minutes to compile the EXE but damn that is impressive after 15 years of service!

xplorer² is compiled with Visual Studio 6?

...and you're surprised about what? The UI hasn't changed for the whole time I've been using it (2005 ...) other than some options to change button size or other nonsense. Bookmarks, Organize, etc. are still as antiquated as ever. Lack of "Add" on any Organize dialog, no modeless dialogs, d-n-d NOT, all pretty much good old "bleeding edge" stuff ... for 2004... <sigh>. But then, I'm also stuck in my ways so all I need is the same functionality that's always been there, so who am I to complain?

VS 6 was 1998 if I remember correctly. Does it even support 64 bit?

Ah, good trick! :)

(Is it worth the effort at all?)
