Getting full explorer replacement

I have tried re-installing x2 and using the replace explorer option, but I still only get x2 when I click on a folder or file in the right pane of explorer. All other actions that I think should open x2, open explorer instead. Is there a registry edit to fix that?

which version do you have, is it 2.5? And what are all the other actions you mention? You cannot replace explorer from those system open/save dialogs

Version 2.5.0.4 ULT [Unicode] x64 14/06/21

If I have a hyperlink to a folder in a Word doc, when I click on it, the folder is opened in Explorer.

Recently, I restored an image of my OS that did not have x2 installed. When I installed it using the replace Explorer option, and started using that OS, it appeared to me that x2 was opening under more circumstances than what I had observed before. I cannot go back to the OS now because there were some problems with it, and I replaced it with a later image that already had x2 installed. So I can't give you more information about what all was being handled by x2.

so the problem is just your Word? How does that hyperlink look like exactly?
is your word 32 or 64 bit?

The path in the Address field of a typical hyperlink is: G:\Docs and Data\Investments\Charts and Analysis\2014\Charts 141201 - 141231.

that looks like a file not folder. Can you right click on it to check its properties and see exactly how it is defined? something like file:///path perhaps

That's a folder; I use absolute addresses. It's in a Word document.

uninstall all xplorer2 versions you have (if you have more than one) then reinstall the latest v2.5 making sure you tick the "replace windows explorer" option during installation. That should do it

uninstalled everything, rebooted, installed 3.0.0.2 selecting Explorer replacement, checked "take over WIN+E key" advanced option, rebooted. WIN+E still opens Windows Explorer, not xplorer2. Any suggestions?

is xplorer2 running in the background? check the PROCESSES tab in windows task manager
if you fully quit xplorer2 then you lose WIN+E

I reinstalled, and it's working now. I suspect that I was clicking on the wrong selection when installing due to cognitive hand/eye failure.
