Classic Toolbar mess up

Post by natong »

WINVER: 6.1-7601 (Windows 7 Ultimate) x64
X2 Version: 3.2.0.2 ULT [Unicode] x64

Toolbar often mess up as the snapshot. I have to minimize and then restore the windows to solve the problem.
I tried to split into 2 toolbars but still face the same problem as one long toolbar.

do you have a little toolbar inbetween? Use VIEW > TOOLBARS > (UN)LOCK DOCK SITES to see the drag handles

No split toolbars. Just one long toolbar + drive bar.

Path bar and Filter bar also shown twice when mess up.

I run as maximize windows and leave it in background.
Sometimes when switch back to xplorer2, toolbar will mess up.

I've never heard of this problem before. Try getting the latest version 3.3 and see if it helps

When restored windows from maximized state, The Toolbar look a like.
Maybe these is a bug about dimension size between restore and maximize state.

Unlock toolbar didn't help.
I spent 30 days to investigation.
Now I found the issue occur when the monitor waked up from the sleep mode.

I tried to install the old versions of nVidia driver but unlucky.
Then I tried to disable "Dell Display Manager" 1.30.1800 and tada!!! it didn't mess toolbar when waked up from sleep.

Now I moved back Dell Display Manager to the old version 1.25.1610 and it didn't affect the toolbar.

What do you think why the Dell Display Manager can mess up the toolbar when waked up from sleep ?

it is a big system of linked components and complex dependencies, anything goes!

I don't recall anyone ever describing the OEM love of superfluous bloatware in such a legitimising way before.

Trackpad, desktop, display, keyboard, and network "helpers" are all the rage, especially in the laptop market where it's rarely described to the end-user what it is they actually help with, nor disclosed that the OEM itself was usually paid to include them (just because it bears the Dell logo does not mean Dell produced it).

The short answer, though, as to "why the Dell Display Manager can mess up the toolbar" probably lies in the idea that these "helpers" often try to cache 3rd-party window/toolbar locations between sessions, usually through some misguided belief that it contributes to a more homogenised (i.e. "managed") end-user experience. I'm sure George Orwell would have a pithy something to say about how a better managed user is a more productive user.

Doesn't always go according to plan. (I have a tin-foil hat around here somewhere...)

I have only one dell software because I use Dell monitor. And these software is very useful. It can auto adjust brightness by applications.
Files are very tiny too.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell Display Manager\ddm.dat"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell Display Manager\ddm.exe"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell Display Manager\ddmext.dll"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell Display Manager\Muse000.ttf"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell Display Manager\readme.txt"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell Display Manager\unins000.dat"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell Display Manager\unins000.exe"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell Display Manager\unins000.msg"
