When I have thumbnail view on and open a folder with lots of images, only the first screenful of thumbnails gets loaded. One by one, but quickly, the thumbnails appear, and then the CPU meter goes flat. If I then press the page-down key to go to the next page, the same thing happens: one by one, but quickly, the thumbnails appear, and then the CPU meter goes flat. This will happen over and over, for each page, until I have paged through the entire folder.

In the advanced setting dialog I do not have a checkmark by "No background thumbnail extraction" and there is no checkmark by "No background threading for reading slow folders". The first of these implies to me that the thumbnails should be loading in background once I have opened the folder, but this does not seem to be happening.

Is there some other option I might have set wrong? Or is this normal?

thumbnails are extracted when items are seen, not before. Same goes for all column information
