Positioning of right pane list

Once a file or folder has been selected in the right pane, returning to the same folder does not position the list at the top.
Is there an option to change this behaviour?

no, xplorer2 always selects the last file or folder you were playing with

The HOME key on my key board seems to do what I want. Thanks for you help on this and my other query.

yes, all standard keys work in xplorer2, it is very much keyboard happy!
