"touch dates" "sync-touch"

Post by rnmerchant »

What does 'touch dates' and 'sync-touch' mean?

I am not familiar with how those terms are used (though they appear enough that it seems like I could have known).

Can I use them to read EXIF 'picture taken' dates?

I've a bunch of image files wich I modified with a program that stripped all the EXIF data. I do of course still have the original files. I'd like to restore the EXIF date info to the new files - somehow, I guess, copying it from the original file and writing it to the new file. Is that possible?

There are some complicated command-line utilites available to do that but they are all Greek to me! My language skills are not that good.

if the damaged photos still have the exif dates, you can repair them using ACTIONS > CHANGE DATES menu command (see the documentation F1)
otherwise you can use sync-touch command but that only works inside a single pair of folders
