Office preview not working anymore

Don't know when this started, but today it turned out office (2019) preview stopped working. It works in Windows explorer though. I installed the latest update, but that didn't help. After starting xplorer2, the first time a preview is tried, it flashes briefly. The next try results in "no preview available"
(Q to Nikos: is there somebody who could take over support/development if necessary? Of course I hope this will not be necessary for a long time!)

I take it you are talking about NATIVE preview tab? did you try all office document types? Do they all have the problem?
if you did a recent update, try a reboot and see how it goes

I tried a restart, but that didn't help. Additional: draft preview not working too for docx and xlsx - odt format is working. Always was pretty slow by the way, but I guess that's Office.

On the side: I didn't get a notification; checked spam.

if we are talking about draft preview, first check you have the filter handlers for DOCX etc installed using this tool

do you have 32 bit xplorer2 or 64? Is it the latest version?

I have the latest 64 bit version.
On this PC it is Office 2019 (2016) 64-bit
On my other location is Office 2019 (2016) 32-bit. On that location draft works, native doesn't.
As said, preview does work in Windows Explorer

I guess from your PS that sending mails doesn't work anymore? Because I thought I did get notifications before.

I can't see anything wrong with this DOCX information
keep in mind that windows explorer uses the equivalent of NATIVE preview, does native preview work in your xplorer2 (64 bit)

also what about other file types, e.g. DOC or XLS, what happens with those, same as DOCX?

As said before native doesn't work on two almost identical W10 PC's for .docx and .xlsx (don't use other office apps, save outlook) It works for .odt.
Registry for .odt below. After a fresh start when trying to show a docx for the first time it seems to attempt to do so but gives up after a few seconds. When trying again it doesn't try. So I guess there is some problem with a timeout? Windows Explorer doesn't take much time to show the native preview.
PS would be nice if notifications would work. I thought it once did.

anybody else with office 2019 having preview issues?

anyway there are a few advanced properties that may be affecting things
huge file preview limit
draft preview types/native preview types
use text filters for these types

use TOOLS > ADVANCED OPTIONS and see if these above have any "weird" values
(use the search box in settings editor to find them)

Just before I saw your answer, I looked in the advanced settings. Some years ago I turned off preview with -xls -docx, because it was slow and so
scrolling through a pane became awkward. Should have remembered it, but well … Would have helped if there was a message it was turned off instead of "preview not available". It still is slow, so maybe I will turn it off again.
