While being in main window, pressing F1 would produce this msgbox:

Code: Select all

---------------------------
xplorer²
---------------------------
The file "x2docs.pdf" is not present in the installation folder

The main help file is rather large and is distributed separately.
Do you want to go to the website and download it now?
---------------------------
Yes No
---------------------------
Do I need to adjust some setting here?

Hitting F1 in dialogs, such as Options , would open Edge with the newhelp as expected. Hm, Edge is not really expected here, because not the default browser, but it opens the new helpfile.

BTW, thanks a lot for investing so much effort for the new documentation, highly appreciated!

Check if you have F1 assigned to something other than quick start

There is an option in the advanced settings editor to make x2 use the default browser... global/more options

Thanks FrizzleFry, indeed F1 was mapped to 32864, but I was not able to translate this to some description. Do you know what it is for? In the command finder, searching for F1, it has not been shown (but several other commands assigned with an F1 key combination).

32864 is the menu code for contents which seems to still be set up to load Narayan's PDF manual.
32863 is the menu code for quick start which loads the official and updated manual: newhelp.htm

The contents menu item does not appear in the Help menu on my x2 but looking at the main menu resource it is still there.

Thanks again, everything what happened explained.
Has the F1 link to Naranyan's help been a default for some time or did I set it individually - can't remember.

I think F1 was set to load the PDF manual (or give the not present warning) by default a while back.

I guess now the default for F1 on a fresh install is to run quick start.

I unassigned F1 a while back because I kept hitting it instead of F2.
