Problem with some special directory: 2xExplorer hides it
I had a virus scan on my hard drive through Symantec's online scanning. It detected a trojan dropper somewhere on my hard drive in some IE cache directory.
I tried to find it and to remove the cache using 2xExplorer but...
this directory is never shown!
C:\Documents and Settings\Fref\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5
The "Content.IE5" directory is hidden, somehow. Though, if I use a dos window, I can reach it and if I type the full path in 2xExplorer's path field, it goes through...
Odd, isn't it?

Ooops, my mistake, I just understood the difference between 2xExplorer and xplorer²
Anyway, the default "show hidden files" behaviour is enabled, same for Windows Explorer. But, this directory is never shown, unless you type the full path (for xplorer² and WE). Though it appears under Dos. Any clue?
Sorry for the inconvenience, I'd just like to be able to really see all my folders

So is your question about 2x or x2?
... because since v.46, x2 has a Find Blacklist feature which keeps you from searching in the [defaultuser]\Local Settings\ path (where there can be a large number of strange files which are seldom of interest to most users & which often slow down searches dramatically)
see alpha.txt for more information
But even this path can be searched if you start at ..\Local Settings\
... or if you remove the registry key(s) under
xplorer2\History\Find Blacklist
Also, the above just concerns limiting the search path (in x2). You should always be able to browse everywhere for which you have the computer security "permissions".

whatever won't show with WE, won't show in 2x/x2 since they use the same reading "engine"
e.g. if some folder has the "nonenumerated" attribute, x2 won't touch it
(although it is unlikely that your case falls under this category)
the blacklist fred mentioned is only for the search function, not regular browsing
