ex2 not working in W98SE

Post by mike4477 »

First, I have used 2X for years, never any install problems.
I use the no-install version.

ex2, I tried to run it and get the expected error messages below:

B. 95/98/ME USERS
(DBMon doesn't work so you'll need to download Dependency Walker free from snip

Then I also get this:
PLEASE NOTE: In a few occasions, running the alpha version will generate so called "assertion errors", snip

Is ex2 being modified so it will run normally in W98SE? I would like to see what the program is like, but not run other programs and get error messages.

TIA

Mike

In these early stages, x2 code has a lot of extra code in there to catch errors and report them out. Dependancy Walker is a tool for Win9x window versions, that can catch these error reports. WinXP, Win2k and WinNT can use the supplied debug program instead.

x2 will quite happily run without Dependancy walker. However, the whole point in releasing an alpha version is to debug the program. Dependancy walker allows the output of any bugs to be reported out to the outside world. This information is impotant to Nikos so he is able to debug and fix the problem.

On most occaisions, if an assertion error occurs, then pressing ignore will allow you to carry on. But how will the bug get fixed if Nikos dosen't know about it?
