non read-only file opening as read-only

Anyone ever have problems with 2.5.0.5 opening non read-only files as read-only? It has been working fine for awhile and now suddenly if I open a text file from my desktop it won't let me modify it. I double checked and it is not read-only, and I can open it in wordpad and modify it without any problems. Any ideas?

I was surprised when it happened to me a few times, too.

It seems that Editor² remembers whether it was editing or just viewing a file last time out. So when invoked from click (or d-click) on file it will open in same state as before. :o

& nikos just pointed out that F6 will toggle between read & edit :)

That was odd, first off it was doing it to any file I opened from any location, so I downloaded editor2 unicode version and opened a text file in that and it was editable. I downloaded editor2 regular again and extracted it over the old one and opened the file and it was still read-only. I deleted editor2 regular and then tried unicode again and it worked fine, re-extracted editor regular and it's working fine again :)

The F6 will definitely come in handy, must have missed that when I was looking through the menus.

Thanks.

I suspect Editor2 uses a number of IE dll's etc to keep itself "light".  So when you uninstall IE, you may lose some Editor2 functionality.
Also some features of xplorer2 will be lost. See FAQ#A2

Personally, I have kept IE installed; but I do not use it most of the time.
