Sound on Entering a Newly Created Folder

In the beta, I get "Windows XP Critical Stop.wav" playing when I enter a newly created folder. The folder can be created by some other program, but if it is new to the view of x2, upon entering it the wav is played.

In fact, using foobar with lame, I can extract songs from a CD and create directories at the same time. When I traverse down through all the newly created directories I get the wav file playing each time.

Is this a "feature?"

check the setting of
Tools | Options... | General <Beep on warnings and errors

Also may be helpful to give what the dbmon output says when beep occurs.

I just noticed that the wav file is played when I go into the folder very quickly after its creation. (e.g. pressing enter to finish naming the folder and then pressing enter again to go into the folder)

It sounds like you tried to go there before autorefresh finished posting the new creation details.
Does beep go away if you force refresh first: Ctrl+R ?

The only thing that seems to prevent that sound being played would be for me to wait about 2 secs. If I create the folder, complete naming the folder, press ctrl+r, and enter the folder all under 2 secs the sound still gets played.

Interestingly enough, if I leave the folder as "New Folder," the sound does not come up (even if I typed in "New Folder" on my own).

the problem is your setting that syncs the tree with the folder being browsed. When you are really fast, you beat the tree refresh timeouts, so the folder you are asking it to synchronize with isn't yet present in the tree!

there's no solution to this problem
if you really get annoyed by the sound, turn off the beeps as fred recommended

Ah, thanks for all the help fgagnon :) and nikos for the explanation. :D

In truth, I rarely use the tree, but I have it open for testing.
