File-manager WITHOUT Find-function?

Post by woodland »

Hi all,

I like explorer2 very much! I use it in combination with the Blackbox desktop ) and its a match made in heaven (http://www.bb4win.org) BUT although there a 2 ways to the FIND-function (1 button and 1 in the menu) it doesn't work?????
Is this a feature of the lite-version or is my install faulty (i tried re-install) ???

thx for any help

ditto on the search. I really liked the 2xExplorer search. I was disappointed to find Explorer2 opening the IE search page. Hopefully a *real* search will be in the final version.

see: http://netez.com/xplorer2/x2buy.htm
& make the conversion.
(Currently 1 Euro is approx 1.22 USD)
But x2 is not quite yet on sale.
Maybe sometime next week :)

ok, all that about the search function in the pro version is cool, but what about the *original* question?

The Ctrl+F "Find files" feature does not work for me either! Nothing at all appears.

thx,
eXp

I've looked all through registry.txt and find no mention of "szExtFindFiles".
How do I set an external find utility to be my default?

i am referring to registry.txt included with the new beta, not the old one for 2x!

anyway, i copy the info here:

Code: Select all

szExtFindFiles path for external find files program [default is explorer]
                     e.g. c:\tools\finder "%s"
"%s" must be included; the current folder path is passed
                     as an argument there

Thank you very much. The registry.txt I was reading was from the explorer2Lite beta that I downloaded yesterday.

I beg your pardon. You are correct.

I copied "szExtFindFiles" from the website and did a search for it in the text file. Unfortunately, when I selected the word, Windows also selected the space before it. Hence, the find could not find " szExtFindFiles".

getting to registry.txt file

Post by fgagnon »

speaking of registry.txt ...

Rather than navigating to it to view registry.txt -- it would be nice (improve useability) to have a link that opens it from x2 menus/helps or such.

One logical spot would be from where it is mentioned.
viz -- in messagebox invoked from
Tools | Options... | General | more options...
add a button: "View registry.txt"

Another spot would be as an item in Help menu, but as registry tweaking is intended for more expert users, I would prefer the former.

{But hold suggestion for a user interface improvement version update}
